As part of the European Heritage Days, Almada Mundo, the International Association for Education, Training, and Innovation, invites you to second Digital Summit of the year. In this occasion we will celebraate the International Days of Intangible Cultural Heritage. We will present 6 short of the 2024-25 competition.

For the occasion Heritales as chosen 7 great documentaries about traditions sustenability, community and natural heritage. The films will be shown along the full day starting at 10 m until 7pm.

Heritales in the NEI European Reserchers Night

The Heritales Heritage Festival once again showcases its short films to promote equality and sustainability at Researchers’ Night 2025. Under the theme “Great Challenges,” the Heritales festival session addresses inclusion.

Inclusive animated shorts, interdisciplinary in nature and with a variety of techniques. They address multiple subjects, revealing the artists’ commitment to inclusion and addressing social problems and pathologies through culture.

School program “Aprendo a Ser Futuro

As part of the European Heritage Days, Almada Mundo, the International Association for Education, Training, and Innovation, invites you to visit the exhibition of works by final-year students of the 2024–2025 1st Cycle of Basic Education. Students from the Union of Parishes Schools of Almada, Cova da Piedade, Pragal, and Cacilhas share significant learning experiences in the areas of citizenship, multimedia, photography, video, psychology, philosophy, personal development, and aesthetic and artistic education.

For the occasion Heritales as chosen two amzing documentaries about trditions sustaenability and community buildings. This will be the theme of the debate associated with the Europan Heritage Days.

Heritales @ JEP (European Heritage Days) – Bota Rasa – Évora – Portugal (18th of September 2025)

European Heritages Days (Architecture) 2025 at Sociedade União Eborense

“The Natural Heritage in the Amazon. Where natural architectures, archaeology, and material culture are doors to the indigenous communities’ future.”

This session will present a film and a debate that highlight the architectures of nature shaped by indigenous communities. The film explores the natural architecture of the indigenous peoples of Amazonas, the archaeology and methods for examining their past. By excavating the vestiges that can ensure their future. In many communities, the labour of the archaeologists is to show that those ancestral communities have belonged to those places for many centuries, which is essential to ensure their presence in the future, by doing (or respecting) laws that recognise them, their existence, and their territory. We invite participants to explore and share the world through the perspectives of the people who continue to inhabit it.
With this session, The Heritales festival aims to reveal ways of life that highlight the relationship between natural monuments, architecture, and nature. According to ancestral cosmogony, indigenous peoples believe that they belong to the land, in contrast to the perspective promoted by so-called “Western Civilizations,” which holds that the land belongs to people

This will be the theme of the debate associated with the Europan Heritage Days.

Heritales in the Covento Dos Remedios,  “Cinema no Convento”

The initiative “Cinema no Convento” this year with Technology and Humnity
a proposal of the Resource Center for Intangible Cultural Heritage – PCI, started in 2019 by the Resource Center of the PCI with the collaboration of the International Heritage Film Festival – “HERITALES” with the aim of raising awareness the space and work of the Resource Center as well as its content developed in cinema.

This year’s theme is “Technology and Humanity,” inviting us to reflect on the complex relationship between technology and the human condition.
In this film series, we propose a journey through works that discuss topics such as artificial intelligence, robotics, digital ethics, and, in particular, the intersection between technology and intangible cultural heritage. How are technological innovations shaping the transmission, preservation, and reinvention of traditions? We invite you to reflect.

This film portrays the contrast between natural life forms, cultural constructions, and the ways of scientifically recovering, with new technologies, the identities of communities that lack written historical records. A scientific expedition from the University of Zurich travels to southern Chile, uncovering the history of the Mapuche community and their life records, searching in virtually unconnected places where technology has not yet reached. The film raises several questions about ethics, the information obtained through new technologies, and their potential political and malicious use. At the same time, it reveals the possibilities of innovation in finding identity groups that struggle for survival by learning small, still-living pieces of culture, such as the language of their ancestors, Mapudungun.

Cinema in the Covento Dos Remedios, “Cinema no Convento”

The initiative “Cinema no Convento” brings this session showing various sustainable communities that live peacefully with their environment, through fishing and agriculture, are beginning to see their stability and survival compromised. Natural and cultural heritage, they reveal their close union and the need to maintain a balance so that these niches that range from the Caribbean to Africa, from Ireland to Portugal, can continue to survive.

Heritales @ The National Museum of Coches – Lisbon – Portugal (18th – 19th of May 2024)

The International Day and Night of Museums

On the International Day and Night of the Museums, Heritales will be screening four amazing documentaries and a collection of animation shorts from the past editions of the festival.

Starting with Talia from the producing house Cativa followed by the documentary Hard Question from João Meirinhos, an incredible Lisbon-based director and poet.
After the Saturday evening session, there will be a debate with the directors of the documentary “Meraki” , an Ocean and Flow Production investigating the protection of the cultural world and the natural world, as ecological and social elements linked to peace and sustainability.
On Saturday afternoon at the official market fair, you can experience a workshop with Maria Zozaya on the project Crowd Recycling
