Heritales Trophies’ Exhibition

In each edition, the festival offers an exhibition of trophies. followed by the awards ceremony. with the presence of master’s students and winning authors of the competition. Due to the SARs-Covid confinement period. some of the trophies did not reach the respective authors awarded at the awards ceremony. That’s why. This is the time to showcase some of the trophies that span the years between 2021-24 and that host this edition.
The exhibition 0 Heritage is Here! presents a variety of creative solutions for designing the different prize categories and the material possibilities they can take. The trophies respect the care of heritage in a broad sense. once. predominantly in glass and ceramics. share a love for our community world. empathetic. ecological and sustainable, which we believe truly exists out there and in some way in each of us.

At the end of the Summer  Heritales brings to you an unmissable event in partnership with the Castelehaven Community Centre in Camden Town (London-UK).

This is our very first appointment in the United Kingdom which will bring on a Friday afternoon one of our documentaries from the 2024 competition selection. Black Water Green Gold. “An Indigenous community fighting to save Lake Patzcuaro in Central Mexico”.

This theme marries perfectly with the small charity Castlehaven community mission which is “to respond to our local community’s social, health, recreational and educational needs”. We believe that everyone deserves access to the services they need to thrive and the opportunity to be part of a welcoming and caring community. That’s why we exist, to provide free, quality, and accessible activities to people of all ages, abilities, genders, and cultures.” We’ve worked with multiple organisations and institutions, delivering a broad range of activities and safe spaces for people of all ages and abilities”.

Convento dos Remédios

Following the remodeling of the Order of Carmo, the Discalced Carmelites settled in Évora in the 16th century, outside the Fernandina wall, in front of the keep. The Church was consecrated in 1614.
Due to its location, the Convent played an important role in the sieges of Évora: during the war of independence (May 1663), it was the scene of fighting between the Castilians and the Portuguese and in the 1st French Invasion (Loison), the Convent was occupied and looted. (July 1820).
After the looting, the extinction of religious orders and the nationalization of their assets radically reduced the importance of the Convent. During the reign of D. Maria II, it was handed over to the CME, as well as the attached fence, used as a public cemetery, a function that remains. After years of neglect, the Chamber promoted, at the end of the 20th century, important restoration works, having installed there, in addition to the Archeology Department, the Eborae Musica Group – which has worked in the Church, helping to preserve it – and spaces temporary and permanent exhibitions.”

Equilibrio Project – Alghero (Italy)

Equilibrio is a space for experimentation and research within multidisciplinary arts and environmentally conscious initiatives.
The project emerged from the desire to develop and connect creative industries in rural areas of Sardegna to the world, while exploring innovative ways to reimagine our society.
Through art practices, site specific projects and events we aim to reactivate unused spaces, building a community of local residents and international artists, makers, creatives and architects who collaborate across sectors.
We are committed to foster opportunities for intercultural dialogue, learning and artistic experimentation, while enhancing local territory and promoting small businesses.

Equilibrio Festival will take place from 4-6 October 2024. Three days of experimentation – full program with live music, performances, djsets, workshops & talks. On a magic location on the NorthWest coast of Sardegna, decorated by our Residency team with site specific installations & scenography.
The program includes audiovisual projections in the area “Spazio Piscina”; which will be open every night from 21:00 – 03:00 for participants to explore. It will be a space for people to relax while getting inspired and acquiring knowledge through movies and short clips.

Festival Tocatì – Bridge Film Festival – Diplomart – Verona (Italy)

 

Documentary, docu-fiction and cinema festival of reality and short films, the Bridge Film Festival is now in its 12th edition and is held every year in mid-July in Verona for four days of quality cinema and other cultural activities, thank you to a project of the Diplomart association. The word “bridge” expresses the deepest intent of the festival: that of building a bridge between screen and spectators, among professionals of Veronese and international sector, among the talents emerging and consolidated ones, between cinema and other arts, between cultures.
Bridge is also an idea, a project, that is born with the festival: to create the first Italian festival on top of a bridge, as a symbol of a vision where the city and the citizens are the protagonists.

Tocatì supports the traditional games and sports communities and its players well beyond the days of the festival by proposing itself as a permanent programme of activities for the Safeguard of traditional games and sports in collaboration with the Service II, UNESCO General Secretariat Office of the MiC (Ministry of Culture) for Italy and the Institutions of the international partnership, which includes Belgium – Department of Culture, Youth and Media, France – Ministère de la Culture – Direction Générale, Croatia – Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Croatia, and Cyprus – Ministry of Education, Culture, Sport and Youth.

The Tocatì Festival is the main action of this programme: with its 20th edition, the event has currently become an international point of reference for institutions, NGOs and traditional games and sports communities.

Ever-Changing Clouds, Like My Ever-Changing Life

Synopsis: Beside the clouds, a city like an abyss, detached from the ground but not from time and impermanence. After graduation, four children set off on their own paths, each branching into their unique journeys and each experiencing their own profound changes. Life hangs by a thread, rising and falling like dust, where to seek those beautiful bygone days? Meetings are fleeting, with no promise of a next time, where then to seek the beauty of endurance? From the oil painting series “Concrete Heaven” by Pu Yuemei, featuring a unique worldview, whimsical plots, and intricate metaphors, it’s an ode to the song of life.

Submitter Statement:  ，I kept this story for ten years, intermittently drawing it into a cartoon, and then made up my mind to finish it during the lockdown in 2022. This is more like the moral of me and my living environment. Everyone in the story is like my old friends, and maybe my own thoughts diverged. I will try my best to finish it and tie a knot in our life together with Pu Yuemei’s series of works.

Qiang Chen

Bio: Experimental artist based in New York and Beijing. The main creative forms include performance art, installation art, painting, experimental film, experimental music and animation. In 2005, he began to use video works to express his thoughts on the current society. Among them, he made three animations and participated in exhibitions, launching his animation creation career. In 2023, “Ever-Changing Clouds, Like My Ever-Changing Life” was shortlisted for the Golden Horse Award in Taiwan. In 2013, “Hanging City” was shortlisted for the ifva Asian New Power Group in Hong Kong. His works include “Stinky Meat” and “Insomnia”, which have been selected for many times in Beijing Independent Video Exhibition.

On the other side (beyond) the window

Synopsis: Based on the fantastical worlds described by girls and boys close to Imagiro Company; three dancers resemble lonely children on the routine of their home. They dance and play with the idea of those imaginary journeys. Upon escaping the “confinement” imposed by the adult world, encounter new characters, situations, and fantastical atmospheres: dancing among the clouds, capturing stars, escaping flying cars, or twirling at the center of the sun. These magical encounters bring them fresh perspectives, hopes and joys as they return home.

Submitter Statement:  In this project, we delve into the fusion of dance language with animated audiovisuals, specifically targeting young girls and boys. We aim to explore themes related to the everyday experiences of childhood, their fears and dreams within a world often dominated by adult-centric perspectives.
The inspiration for this animated short film emerged from the shared confinement experiences of children during the pandemic. These were the very children closely associated with the children’s dance company, Imagiro. Guided by the concept of going “beyond the window,” we choreographed dance scenes that we then translated into the language of animated visuals.
