Heritage Cinema at the University
A morning of moving images, culture and traditions of the world.
Two amazing films from opposite sides of the globe. The first tells the story of a popular Catholic fest in the neighborhoods of Ribeirão Preto (Brazil). It is an impressive collection of stories, childhood memories, and mysteries from a community that made devotion its way of life through music and parades. From director Carlos Moro, we revive the abundance of food showing local traditions and customs. The second one is an amazing portrait of a Japanese-Ethiopian community of more than 700 people living in Tokyo. Through the lens of director Itsushi Kawase 川瀬 慈, we are projected to the cultural diversity of Japan with music and religion cerimonies.
