Tambour ou Bola (Drum or Ball)

Inspired on Wilson’s Santos trajectory, the movie shows the journey of a musician and percussionist who found the Drums Orchestra of Alagoas, devoting his life to music and to the dissemination of popular percussion as a tool to social inclusion of poor youngers
Quilombola from North’s Santa Luzia, migrates to the state’s capital, drawn by his parents life’s needs. In Maceio, the boy grew up, like many other kids, without education, deprived from a dignified life, safe and warm. Sanked in a marginal world, full of needs, violence and criminality.
The film reveals the life trajectory of this real character, archetype of so many other real individuals from the Brazil periphery, face of those and each of us in our fight for survival, in our innocent memories, joys and daily difficulties. And yet, in a world where wolves devour wolves, a human being who feels and cares about the existence of so many other boys and girls, who survive at the crossroads of life, marginalized, creating and reinventing their own existence, their games and adventures, even without the aid of “Ariadne’s string” to guide them back to life and freedom. Contrary to the logic of an excludent society, with all of its adversities, our character finds in music the path to his human and professional affirmation and also an instrument to help other children and youngers.

SERGIO ONOFRE SEIXAS DE ARAÚJO (SÉRGIO ONOFRE): É Licenciado em História pela Universidade Federal de Alagoas – UFAL (1996) e Mestre em Serviço Social, linha de pesquisa Políticas Públicas pela Universidade Federal de Pernambuco – UFPE (2003). Professor Assistente da Universidade Federal de Alagoas. Tem experiência na área de História Regional e Memória Cultural em Alagoas, foi Coordenador de Assuntos Culturais da Pró-Reitoria de Extensão da UFAL e Diretor do Espaço Cultural Salomão de Barros Lima (2012-2016). Coordenou diversos projetos extensionistas dentre os quais o “Projeto Tambores”, que ofereceu oficinas de musicalização e dança afro-brasileira em comunidades quilombolas (2010-2013), o Projeto Meu Ambiente (en)Cena”, de documentação videografica em comunidades tradicionais; o Projeto (cineclubista) Cine Artpopular de exibição semanal de cinema nacional nas cidades de Penedo e Maceió (2009-2015) e o Festival de Cinema Universitário de Alagoas na cidade de Penedo, hoje denominado Circuito Penedo de Cinema, congregando mais três atividades: o Festival do Cinema Brasileiro, a Mostra Velho Chico de Cinema Ambiental e o Encontro de Cinema Alagoano. Participou do Júri Oficial do 7º Festival de Cinema de Triunfo (2014), e do 11º Festival Internacional de Curta Metragem de Taquaritinga do Norte – Curta Taquari (2018), foi diretor de produção dos longas metragens “Homens e Feras” (1995) “O suicídio” (2007) e “Terra Maldita” (2009), todos de Pedro Onofre. Atualmente coordena o Laboratório Escola de Arte, Cinema e Audiovisual. Em parceria com a Secretaria de Estado da Educação – SEDUC, coordenou, em Penedo, o curso MedioTec de Produção de Áudio e Vídeo, voltado para alunos do Ensino Médio daquela Rede. Produziu e co-dirigiu dois curtas como resultado do MédioTec: “Rotina” (2018) e “A Última Carta” (2018). Participou da produção coletiva do curta “Coisas de Cinema” (Doc-Lab/SESC/2018), coordenou a produção do curta “Vaudeville” de Elcio Verçosa (2019).
